How long do red pandas live ?

Fortunately, small pandas breed well in captivity, as zoos have all the favorable conditions for development. In nature, their life expectancy is about 8-10 years, in zoos – about 15 years.

For an unusual appearance, a red panda was often called a “fiery cat” or “cat-bear”. The fossil remains of the Red Pandas were found in the territory from eastern China and to western Britain. Archaeologists have found the remains of the Lesser Pandas even in North America (in the states of Tennessee and Washington) and suggest that it could be some new Red Panda subspecies living in the Miocene.

Small panda can be safely called one of the loveliest animals on Earth. It is worth noting that this representative of the family of pandas resembles a raccoon more than their relative – a giant panda.

The main habitats of the small panda are at an altitude of 2,200 to 4,800 meters above sea level. The temperature regime is from 10 ° to 25 ° C. Small panda prefers mixed coniferous and deciduous forests with a lot of old trees and dense thickets of bamboo.

The small panda lives most of life alone. Only during the mating season males form pairs with females. Each beast has its own territory.
