What do panthers eat ?

The black panthers are predators. They eat almost everything that moves. The main diet is meat, in particular, medium mammals. Sometimes, they can keep to a diet and eat grass, eggs, fruit.

Black Panthers can adapt well to new conditions. If necessary, they replace one type of production by another. In the case of a shortage of wild animals, they catch cattle or animals near their habitat.

Although black panthers can adapt well to different habitats, they are endangered. Man is the greatest threat to them. Farmers kill the black panther. They use poison and traps to protect livestock and people. Hunters kill black panthers for fun and precious fur. Black panthers move closer to the habitat of wild animals to be further away from the human being. The loss and deterioration of natural habitats, for the black panther, pose a serious threat to their survival.

A black panther is a leopard with a black color. This is not a separate species of animals, but, simply, manifestations of melanism. Some people (especially in Central and South America) also use the term black panther referring to the black jaguar (the closest relative of a leopard). So far, the manifestation of melanism in pumas is not damaged.

Black panthers live mainly in the tropical forests of South and South-East Asia. Also, there are many of them in south-western China, Burma, Nepal, South India, Indonesia and southern Malaysia. In Indonesia and southern Malaysia, black leopards are more common than bright leopards. These animals have also been recorded in the dry and rocky areas of Ethiopia, the forests of Mount (Kenya) and Aberdares in Africa. But their number in these regions is very small.
