A dace – the most appreciative fish, always catch, calculating the depth where the flock keeps. You can catch a lot of silver beauty even in summer – the main thing is that there is enough fish in the pond. I will tell you about my many years of experience in catching this fish. First of all about frequent disputes: can fishermen catch all the fish in a reservoir with a fishing rod?
I think it’s just nonsense. Moreover, judging by the catches, the number of fish even increases, and the roach every year comes across larger and larger. There are frequent cases of catching fishes weighing up to 800g and even more, and in the coming years we will certainly witness the appearance of even larger specimens in the catches – just not to jinx it.
Why all? Yes, because the fishing is not conducted, in addition, in the past three years, some reservoirs have been largely freed from poaching networks.
Plus, significantly improved spawning protection, high water elevation during spawning, and a rather slow decline in the level during the summer, which makes it possible for the swept eggs to hatch without drying out and turn into a huge juvenile herd, which is a kind of guarantee for reproduction of fish stocks in the reservoir. In addition, according to personal observations, the quality of water has improved – even crabs appeared in the pond. True, the familiar reservoir quickly blooms – already at the end of June the water becomes slightly transparent due to the huge amount of microalgae, but the oxygen regime is not greatly disturbed, as the fish leads an active lifestyle in summer, which can be estimated by biting and fishing trophies.
I think that the wind is “guilty” of this – almost every day from ten o’clock in the morning a sufficiently strong wind of different directions blows, the wind direction changes more than once, there are almost no calm days, the wave in the reservoir is rather high – intensive mixing of water occurs and its enrichment with oxygen, which creates favorable conditions for the growth and development of fish.
In other words, if everything is normal with the water body itself and the people guarding it, the anglers are in no way able to undermine the fish stocks!
Now about catching. In some summer seasons it happened that the roach went to great depths, where there was a very interesting catch of large roach. And at depths of more than 6m, catching in a plumb line is good on the side bait – float or with a nod.
The main gear is a float rod. Deaf tooling is effective, but the roach is cautious, and it is desirable that the nozzle is far away, so the best results are with rods 6-7m long. With a friend conducted an experiment. A roach at a distance of 4-5m from the boat did not take, and only when the comrade was located on the stern of the boat and held the rod by the butt on the outstretched hand – the rod was 4.3m, only then did the bites begin. For success, sensitive float, thin fishing line, fine hook are important. For deaf tooling, the main line should not be applied thicker than 0.15-0.16 mm, and the lead 0.1-0.12 mm. Modern fishing line strength allows for this thickness to bring a roach of any size. And now some fishermen are trying to use leads with a thickness of up to 0.08 mm, and very successfully. Small hooks – N16-18, and always dark in color.
For fishing at a farther distance – 12-15m, it is necessary to use tackle for long-distance casting, for the roach the long-range float option N2 with a length of 200mm is suitable, the amount of subsampling is 0.3 gram. The thickness of the main line is 0.2-0.22, the thickness of the leash is 0.1-0.12mm – you can use a thinner main line, but you have to be careful with it due to entanglement. This variant of equipment is very sensitive – the float reacts to movement of a subpackage weighing only 0.3 grams, i.e. there is almost any bite on the flood and on the rise of the float.
Do not feed – do not catch, my bait – crumbly millet porridge, flavored with the factory lure “Trapper” or “Dragon.” Zakorivshis, usually do abundant starter fodder, and then gradually throw in the process of fishing.
Nozzles for fishing for roach – it is a bloodworm, pearl barley, pasta. Some anglers use maggots, but I somehow do not recognize him. The dough prepared according to the following recipe works well. One medium-sized potato boil in the skin, peeling and thoroughly pounding in a plate. Then add flour in such quantity that the dough was thick and not sticky to the hands. You can add a little vanilla sugar. From the dough I roll the buns 3 cm in diameter and boil in boiling salted water for about 10 minutes to boil. Spread the cooked balls on a plate, cut them with a knife and put a piece of butter in the cut – on the tip of a knife. After cooling, the buns can be stored in an oiled rag in the refrigerator. I cut the dough into 4 × 4mm or 5 × 5mm cubes and put it on the hook.
Other dough variants are possible, for example, with the addition of a grind of toasted flaxseed or hemp. You can boil the buns by putting a bay leaf in the water. In addition to the roach, carp and other white fish are well caught on this dough.
