How long do stingrays live ?
Stingrays average life span is from 7 to 10 years for small species, and from 15 to 18 years for large species. At stingrays of reticular the term of life is from ten to thirteen years. Stingrays from the Cayman Islands live up to 25 years (because of the beautiful natural conditions for their life).
The electric stingrays includes 5 orders and 15 families. As a rule, the lifespan of stingrays depends on their size. The larger the species, the longer life expectancy. Electric stingrays average life span is about 13-20 years.
The size of the rajids varies from a few centimeters to several meters, the wingspan of some skates can be more than two meters (for example, ramps from the family of eagles). Electric rays are endowed with a very specific “weapon”. These ramps paralyze their prey by electric discharges.
Skates can be found in different parts of the globe. They are found even off the coasts of Antarctica and in the Arctic Ocean. It is best to observe the “flying” ramp off the coast of Australia.
