How much does a bear weigh ?
Different species of bears have different weight. A cub of a polar bear at birth has a mass from 500 to 750 grams. However, one fact is of interest here. Milk polar bear, unlike other species of bears, is the most fatty. It has a lot of nutrients. For this reason, cubs grow fast enough. Just imagine, after one month the cubs already have a weight of 10 kg. And after reaching the year, the “kids” already weigh 80 kg. Perhaps, the record for the speed of gaining weight!
As for the adult male polar bear, its weight is around 400/450 kg with a body length of up to 2.5 m. Unlike adult females, they are twice as heavy. So, the female weighs 200/300 kg. This is such a family of heavyweights!
As a rule, the American black bear has a small weight, namely 70-113 kg. But as an exception, some reach a weight of up to 300 kg. The main habitat of such bears is hollows under the roots of trees. As soon as the female reaches 3.5 years old, it is ready for mating.
In general, it brings young cubs every two years from two to five pieces. Newborn baby, a black bear has a weight of 170 to 280 grams. After birth, the young live near the female for two years, and then leave it. On average, the life expectancy of this species is from ten to twelve years. Their light weight is due to their nutrition. They mostly eat vegetation. In rare cases, their diet can include carrion, eggs and poultry. Here are such exquisite gourmets!
