Interesting facts from the life of Kondraty Ryleev
The poet Kondraty Ryleev was not only a talented poet, but also a fiery revolutionary. Early life Ryleeva cut short due to his revolutionary views, which eventually led him to death, but he entered the story not only as a writer, but also as one of the harbingers of the revolution. For 30 years of his life, he managed to write many beautiful poems, which became his legacy for us, the descendants.
The poet was born in a noble family, however, not too noble.
Father Ryleev drank a lot and was an avid card player. He even lost two estates belonging to him.
After Napoleon Bonaparte’s troops were defeated and the Russian army moved to France, Kondraty Ryleev took part in this foreign campaign.
Being a short-sighted person, Ryleev always wore glasses while reading or writing. This fact is reflected in his biography.
Godfather Ryleeva was a simple soldier. Several children of his parents, born before him, died in infancy, and the Ryleyev family, according to popular belief at that time, called the first comer to the godparents, who turned out to be a simple soldier.
Kondraty Ryleev’s father had a difficult temper, he often pounded his wife and son. When the future poet turned 5 years old, his mother took him and left his father.
Ryleev’s childhood passed in the cadet corps, where he enrolled at the age of 5.5 years, and graduated only at 18.5 years.
The poet was a Masonic lodge called “Burning Star”.
Kondraty Ryleev corresponded with Pushkin and Griboedov.
As one of the organizers of the 1825 uprising, the poet was arrested and sentenced to death.
During interrogations, Ryleev desperately tried to take all the blame on himself so that the authorities would treat him condescendingly, but as a result all the instigators of the uprising were executed all the same.
While waiting for a sentence, he composed his last poems, which he scribbled on a plate, hoping that someone would read them.
When Ryleev was taken to the scaffold, his rope was broken. Contrary to the custom, according to which the convict in this case gets his freedom, he was re-hanged.
The location of the grave of Kondraty Ryleev is not known for certain.
During the life of Ryleev, only two of his books were published.
After his execution, his works were banned, and the circulations were destroyed, but evidence remained that they were being distributed underground.
Pushkin did not appreciate Kondraty Ryleyev’s work from a literary point of view.
In 15 Russian cities there are streets bearing the name Ryleev.
