What do guppies eat ?
Guppies are almost omnivorous and not demanding on food. Along with living organisms, they readily eat small-cut meat, sea fish fillets, squid, as well as dry and vegetable feeds, cereals. But it is possible to grow large beautiful guppies only by feeding it in sufficient quantity with full-value feeds, periodically changing them.
Fish can not be overfeeded with live food, not to mention dry, otherwise they become ill and stop multiplying. The main feed in the diet of guppies should be live food.
This is especially important in the first 3 – 7 days after birth. Conditions of maintenance and feeding during this period should be optimal. Feeds should be diverse and not too large, besides they should be regularly alternated. The best live forages are small bloodworms, daphnia, artemia, although the fish eagerly eat both the coretra, the moin (the “viviparous”), the cyclopa, the tuber (contains many proteins, but few other necessary substances, and for pregnant females it must be excluded from the menu), Drosophila (Especially wingless forms). Enchytraea (diluted on grated carrots) to give is often not recommended: when they constantly feed them fish obesity occurs, and as a result, the ability to reproduce is lost.
Along with animal feed of older guppies, it is necessary to give vegetable feed in small quantities. It is best to teach them fish on fasting days. The size of the feed should be available to the fish.
