Platypus spend a lot of time looking for food – 8 to 10 hours. Basically, extracting it in the water, although they often find something to profit from and on land. Turning stones off the coast with powerful claws or beaks, they often catch different beetles, larvae, worms and snails.
In the water, platypus eat small fishes, crustaceans, tadpoles, frogs and even water vegetation. To maintain the vitality of the animal daily, it is necessary to eat about a quarter of its own weight of various livestock.
Platypus is a clever hunter, its prey is enough for an animal in a matter of seconds, and it’s almost never possible to get away from such a quick capture. Catching prey, the platypus does not eat it immediately, it collects the catch in the cheek pouches and rises to the surface of the water. Then, lying on the water, he eats the prey.
