What is a baby raccoon called ?
Baby raccoon called cub or kit. Raccoon males live separately and very secluded. In the education of children participation is not accepted. When two adult raccoons meet on the hunt, they behave quite diplomatically. Puffing at each other’s hair, frowning a little and moderately growling, they diverge.
Mamas and “children” live in one common, united family. They actively communicate with each other through various sounds – from almost cat-like purring, to yelps, screams, growls, whistles and grunts.
When they get ready, whoever they can, the family group gathers together for rest, but in free leisure time the mother tries, as much as possible, to teach the children what she can do herself. This is climbing trees, and swimming, and hunting.
Sexually mature offspring become a year later, and then all of them gradually dissipate a considerable distance from the mother site in order to start an independent, adult life.
