Where do reindeer live ?

The reindeer is well adapted to life in a harsh climate. The presence of dense coarse wool, consisting of hollow hairs with air cells, reliably protects the animal’s body from the cold. This species can be found in the northern part of Eurasia and North America. On the territory of Russia, reindeers live in the northern mountains of the Urals, the Siberian taiga and the Far East. These animals are prone to permanent migration, so the geography of their habitat constantly has a tendency to expand.

Northern deer inhabit not only plains, but also mountain areas. Quite often they can be found in the tundra or ordinary coniferous forests. In the taiga, the reindeer prefers a swampy terrain and woodlands. However, with the approach of cold weather, animals begin to migrate into the depths of the taiga.
