Lapland

Each of us wanted to be in a winter fairy tale. In the fairy tale where the Snow Queen lives and the home of Santa Claus himself. And this tale is called Lapland – the land in the north of Scandinavia, where the Sami or Lappish people live. This vast plain that ridges and rivers cut. Today, the territory of Lapland, most of which is located above the Arctic Circle, is located in 4 countries – Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia.

Lapland is attractive for a variety of ski resorts. Having been on this beautiful northern land at least once, breathing its icy air and enjoying its wonderful landscapes, I want to return here more than once. That’s why many of our compatriots buy real estate here and can afford to come to Lapland several times a year – the rest of the year real estate brings income from renting it out.

The climate of Lapland is not severe. The summer is cool here, however, and the winters are quite mild, in the summer the thermometer rarely rises above +15 Celsius, and in the winter within 10-15 degrees of frost.

If you have planned to visit these northern regions in December – January, remember – at this time the polar night reigns here. In these regions, the sun is hidden from the eyes about 50 days a year – depending on the latitude of the area, but many come here to see the northern lights and admire the virgin nature against the background of the purest snow and the starry sky.

Getting to Lapland will be the easiest way through Helsinki. The flight from the capital of Finland to Lapland will take half an hour. Popular sledding in Lapland is dog sledding. Who in childhood didn’t want to ride a dog sled across a frozen lake or throw a lasso around a reindeer neck. The Sami are the indigenous people of Lapland, a very hospitable and cheerful people. Having been in the Saami village, be sure to try their national dishes.

Those who learn to drive a reindeer sleigh under the strict guidance of the driver, are given a certificate, which states that you can manage such a mode of transport as reindeer sleigh. If you are a lover of fishing, then Lapland will give you the opportunity to go fishing. If you are a fan of underwater fishing, then you will be able to master the art of drilling ice using Lapland technology. In the summer of fishing methods becomes much more. You can catch bait, spinning, worm, fly fishing and even seine.

Tour operators offer tourists such a service as a trip through the Arctic waters. On the icebreaker, you can take a walk along the Arctic islands and even plunge into the depths of the ocean.

Lapland has conquered us with its picturesque landscapes, clean air, which you drink like water and beautiful, hospitable people. The hot heart of cold Lapland beats in unison with our hearts. I would like to return here more than once, and we throw a coin into the cold waters of one of the many northern rivers, with one cherished desire – to return here again.
