The future writer was born in the village and early left without a father, who died in the war. Vasily Belov graduated from only seven classes of school. Later he graduated from college and became a mechanic. The first publication of Belov was the poem “Guarding the Motherland”, written by him during his military service.
Almost all his life the writer lived in Vologda. The work of V. I. Belov made him one of the founders of a special genre – “village prose”. Most of his works are based on his personal memories and experiences. Many books describe his relatives and acquaintances. In addition to fiction, Belov wrote several ethnographic essays, mainly covering the life, culture and traditions of the Russian North.
He did not write long novels – in his baggage there are mainly stories and stories. The writer for his own money restored the temple in his native village of Timonich, but in 2006 he was plundered by unknown persons. For his contribution to the literature of V. And.
