Facts about centipedes
The centipede is a fast, predatory invertebrate, which is usually around the waning matter all over the world. Millipedes are not only carnivores, but the centipede’s bite also contains poison, which means that a centipede kills it before sacrificing it.
Despite its name, and the general concept, the centipede has 100 feet, this is actually not true. The centipede has a pair of legs that control the body length of the centipede, which is usually 15 to 30 pairs of legs in total, and not 50 .
There are believed to be about 8000 species of centipedes around the world, but only about 3000 have actually been properly documented and undergone intensive training in the scientific world.
The centipede can be found all over the world and even been seen in the Arctic circle. A centipede can vary in size from a few millimeters to 30 cm long. The centipede has a bite that will be painful to humans, but not fatal if a person is allergic (like with biting / bee stings).
The centipede is usually found on the ground in damp habitats, usually under rocks, leaf litter, logs and sometimes in burrows in the ground or rotting wood. The siphon contributes to a humid environment and is so rare in hot and dry desert areas.
