Grizzly Bear

The grizzly bear is one of the largest and most ferocious predators on earth. This bear is common in Alaska and in western Canada. As a habitat, this subspecies of the brown bear prefers hard-to-reach northern areas. With its more than impressive size, and the grizzly has a height of 2.3-2.5 m. And weighs up to 450 kg, it does not naturally have any rivals or enemies. Except, of course, man. To date, the grizzly bear is listed in the International Red Book.

The birthplace of the grizzly bear is North America, and its northern regions are Canada and Kamchatka. If you want to see this world’s largest bear in its natural habitat, then you will have to go there. It is foolish to talk about the country, using nature, just to nature now very few people lure. Everyone wants to be in the civilized world, to enjoy the fruits of this civilization itself. But here it’s worth going to the preserve where the grizzlies live. At least to make sure they are so terrible and evil.

So, we go to Canada. This is a former French-English colony, which is now an independent country. They speak two languages here, so do not be surprised if you suddenly hear both French and English. But we invite you not to practice linguistics, but to get acquainted with the real owners of the forests of North America. There are a lot of animals in these dense forests north of Ontario, familiar to you from the books of Fenimore Cooper, so beloved in childhood. But the owner there of course is the famous North American grizzly bear.

Going to the national park is better not to speak any language at all, you can scare the beast and not see it in all its glory. And although the grizzly bear is probably the most powerful bear in the world, he usually doesn’t like meeting a person once again. But nevertheless you can see it. In normal circumstances, when the bear is fed, he is calm. But in this mood, he inspires respect. We admire the panda, we are surprised at how a polar bear swims among the ice floes, in Russia the brown bear has even become a symbol of the Olympics – 80. But this grizzly bear, for some reason, causes concern to everyone.

Well, yes, it is huge, almost two meters tall. Yes, he has a huge mouth and sharp claws of about about twelve centimeters. Small ears, small tail and brown or dark brown color of the coat. Yes, he is a predator. But you will be surprised he is almost a blind predator. He has poor eyesight and cannot discern who is who and therefore attacks everything that moves, including the person. And here there is one peculiarity: the whole thing is that if a grizzly ever tastes the taste of human blood, then in fact it will, more often, hunt for it. Here is such a horror. Otherwise, it’s still the same simple bear with its own standards.

Although in national parks where bears and other animals are fed, he behaves quite loyally. Or at least they pretend not to notice.

Do you know what kind of fisher he is? Oh, very clever. Grizzlies love to feast on fish and even adapt to catch it. For example, salmon. When the time has come for the fish to spawn, it usually chooses shallow water. And since the place is mountainous and the river with rapids, the fish as if jumps on the rapids and swims further. After the caviar is laid out, the fish returns and this is where the bear waits.

The grizzly bear catches them just at the moment when she flies down from the threshold. Especially hunting is not necessary – it is important not to miss. I noticed that the fish was in flight, quickly opened its jaws and the op was in its teeth, but it was possible to just click on the teeth, that is, to miss the prey. Of course, having caught a fish, the bear leaves the water and breaks the prey with teeth and claws right on the shore.

And as a gentle grizzly – mother with her cubs! It is worth visiting this nature reserve for the sake of it, and after your departure you will long remember the Grizzly brown bear.
