How To Fold A Shirt?

I will explain how to fold a T shirt in 7 very quick and easy steps. This will save you space, make your tidy closet fun to look at and in the long run it will even save you time.

1. Before Folding Shirt

If you want to fold a T shirt you first want to shake it out to make sure all the big wrinkles are gone.

2. Fold TShirt With Ironed Look

Next you want to put it on a flat surface, front down and even it with your hands. This will give the fold shirt an almost ironed look.

3. Fold Shirt

You fold the right part shirt lengthwise at about one third. If you take the neckline as a guide you’ll make sure that all your shirts come out equally sized. Even it out with your hands.

4. Sleeve Fold

Then you take care of the sleeve. Just fold it back so that it rests on top of the part you have just folded – even it out.

5. Repeat Fold

You fold the left part of the shirt lengthwise starting at the neckline, placing it on top of the sleeve you just folded.

6. Repeated Sleeve Fold

Then you fold over the remaining sleeve just as you did with the first one.

7. Shirt Fold

Now you have a very long and slender rectangle which you need to fold crosswise. How you need to do that depends on where you want to store your shirt.

7.A FOLD SHIRTS FOR SHELF

If you want to store your shirt on a shelf you most likely want to save hight. Hence, I recommend folding shirt rectangle in the middle and be done with it.

7.B FOLD SHIRT FOR DRAWER

If however you prefer to store your shirts in a drawer I highly recommend to store them standing up (instead of lying down) so that you can see all your choices at a glance and even color coordinate them.

In this case you want to save depth. Eyeball the depth of your drawer. You can fold the remaining rectangle in thirds by starting at the bottom, folding it up and covering the seams with the top of the shirt. This will create one edge where no seems are showing. Store your shirt with this part facing upwards. Your shirt will stand up even if it’s not in the drawer.

7.C FOLD SHIRTS TO FIT A SHALLOW DRAWER

If you drawer is even more shallow you will want to fold the rectangle into forth. Eyeball the middle of the rectangle (here will be your very last fold). Now fold the bottom part of the shirt upwards till the seem almost touches the middle – leave about 1 to 2 inches space. Repeat the same process with the neckpart of your shirt. Fold the remaining piece in the middle, which will be easy since you left some space around the center – that was your very last fold.

Your shirt is now a tidy little package that will stand up on it’s own and fit in any drawer you might have. Now that you know how to fold a shirt and how easy it is go to your closet and do some folding. It might take a little time to get used to it but after some exercise you will be just as fast as ever (or even better) your closet will just look a whole lot nicer with all those neat little fold shirts.
