For a long time, some public and religious figures condemned tango, arguing that this dance is too obscene for its public demonstration.
The right to be called the birthplace of tango is challenged by two neighboring countries – Argentina and Uruguay. Most researchers, however, are inclined to believe that tango originated in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, in the port area of La Boca.
Currently, tango schools and festivals dedicated to this dance are widely spread throughout the world.
For the first time in Europe, the dance of tango was demonstrated at the beginning of the 20th century in Paris, where it immediately caused stormy delight.
Tango flourished in the middle of the last century, when the Great Depression reigned in the United States in the 1930s, and World War II shook the world in the 1940s.
