Li Qingyuan – a man who lived for 256 years
It is impossible to believe that a person has lived at least 150 years, let alone 256 years. According to the 1933 New York Times magazine, a person died who was 256 years old. His name was Li Qingyuan. Li Qingyun argued that the secret to his longevity was that he was quiet like a turtle, sleeping like a dog, moving like a dove and keeping his heart calm. The long-liver diet mainly included rice and wine. Comrade Li himself admitted that he was born in 1676.
In 1748, at the age of 71, Li moved from Chui Jiang Xi to Kai-Xian, where he joined the Chinese army as a martial arts teacher and tactical adviser. Li Qingyuan’s most famous photograph was taken in 1927, when Li was visiting General of the National Revolutionary Army Yang Sen with the Sichuan Governor. Then the general arranged a banquet in honor of such an unusual guest. Later, the general described the appearance of his 250-year-old guest as follows: “He has good eyesight and a peppy step, his height is seven feet, he has very long nails and a ruddy face.” The long-liver died in 1933.
During his life, Lee left more than 200 descendants, he was survived by a 60-year-old wife, the 24th in a row. Surveyed in 1933, residents of Sichuan remembered that they had seen Lee while they were children, and that for all the time that they had known him, he did not change. Others said that the herbalist was friends with their grandfathers. However, the true life story of Li Qingyuan may remain a mystery forever.
Officially confirmed by documents, the age of the centenarian totaled more than one hundred thirty years, and even with that he looked outwardly at sixty. Either this person had superhuman abilities, or Li Qingyuan’s age was simply exaggerated by reporters, now I’m afraid that this will not be known for the past years.
