Top 10 Most Bicycle-Friendly Countries
The question is interesting – and in which country are the most cyclists? Recently, this inexpensive, practical and, moreover, health promoting transport has become widespread in the world, and not only in countries where it is warm all year round.
Netherlands! An unequivocal palm. The number of bicycles in this country is approximately equal to the total population, and is about 16 million. By the way, these two-wheeled friends are often stolen here.
Denmark. Despite the cool climate, 8 out of 10 Danes have bicycles. Many go to them everywhere – and to work, and shopping, and just ride. Bike rentals are also missing.
Germany. There are only fewer bicycles per capita than in Denmark, and on average there is just under one kilometer per person per person in the country every day.
Sweden. A surprising fact – cool, in general, the country leading in the number of cyclists. Be that as it may, in Sweden at least one bike is in almost every f amily.
Norway. Another cool bike kingdom. Here this transport is also in every household, and it is considered as indispensable as a refrigerator or a TV.
Finland. Despite the severe winter frosts, the Finns also highly rate bicycles, of which there are plenty – more than half of the residents have at least one. And many go even in winter.
Japan. Despite the availability of high-tech and modern public transport, the Japanese also like to pedal, and this is done regularly by every second inhabitant of the Land of the Rising Sun.
Switzerland. The climate is cold, there are a lot of steep roads because of the whimsical relief, but the Swiss are stubborn. Almost every second has a bicycle.
Belgium. In this country, there is also enough bicycles, on average, one for every two residents. A lot of rentals. As in the Netherlands, it is better not to leave the bike here without an anti-theft system – there is a risk of theft.
China. And bicycles are everywhere everywhere, and in the cold north, and in the hot tropical south. The answer is simple: not all Chinese have money for a scooter, so many people acquire bicycles.
