Top 10 countries for potato consumption

In Russia, potatoes seem to be a familiar and integral element of the diet. However, the world is big, and this tasty root vegetable is far from being popular everywhere. Nevertheless, in many countries it is, if not the basis of the middle menu, then at least an important part of it. Have you ever eaten potatoes for the last time? Most likely, recently. Country number one is Belarus. It also occupies one of the leading places in its production, and it must be admitted that Belarusian potatoes are usually very good in quality. On average, per resident there accounts for more than 180 kilograms of potatoes per year, which is about a pound daily. Impressive.

Kyrgyzstan. Here, potatoes are grown and eaten, however, in terms of consumption, this country lags significantly behind Belarus – the average Kyrgyz citizen eats about 143 kg of potatoes annually.

Ukraine. With a consumption level of 136 kg per year, it takes an honorable third place.

Poland. A little less than in Ukraine – on average a little more than 130 kg per person per year. Also a lot.

Russia. Potatoes in this country are eaten about as actively as in Poland, yielding to this country in terms of consumption of less than a kilogram per capita.

Rwanda. Strangely enough, in this African country, in which, by the way, the highest people in the world live, potatoes are very popular – 125 kg per person per year.

Lithuania. The average Lithuanian eats up to 116 kg of potatoes per year.

Latvia. This country almost does not lag behind its neighbor. Statistics reports 114 kilograms.

Kazakhstan. In this country, there are a lot of original traditional dishes, but potatoes also do not bypass their attention here, and an average of 103 kg of this root crop per Kazakh falls annually.

Great Britain. The British, it turns out, are also very fond of potatoes, and in terms of consumption, they are almost as good as Kazakhstan – 102 kg per person per year.
