In the British colonies, then located on the east coast of the modern territory of America, they believed that the British authorities treated them unfairly. Gradually, during the war, the colonists came to the conclusion that they were fighting not just for good attitude on the part of England, but for liberation from the power of the British. This idea was clearly formulated in the text of the Declaration of Independence, in which the British colonies are already former, were first named the United States of America. Of course, the very fact of the Declaration did not immediately turn the United States into an independent state. Only in 1783, the United Kingdom officially recognized the independence of the states. Since then, this day is considered an official holiday.
