What do clownfish eat ?
For clownfish, bright lighting is required (especially if the aquarium is also home to the sea anemone). In food these fish are unpretentious – they are fed them 2-3 times a day with shrimps, fish, squid, seaweed, dry flakes and even meat.
Clownfish are the inhabitants of the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean. Some species live next to others. Clownfish do not occur in the Atlantic Ocean. In nature, these fishes live in close relationships with the sea anemones. Once the sea anemone was accepted by the clown, the fish will protect it with all its might. Nevertheless, fish-clowns in an aquarium can exist without actinia. This is very good, because the content of actinium is quite difficult even for experienced aquarists. In nature, sea anemone is mandatory for clowns, since life on a reef for small, brightly colored and poorly able to swim fish is very dangerous.
For this reason, clowns never go far from their “master” (this is sometimes called a sea anemone). In the aquarium, however, there are no predators, and therefore an actinia for fish is not necessary. And yet, if there is an actinia in the aquarium, the clownfish, as a rule, does not depart from it further than 15-30cm.
