How long do goats live ?

The average life span of an ordinary productive goat is 8-10 years, some animals can survive to 15-24 years. The maturity of goats comes early – in 2-6 months, but the full development of animals reach only 3 years. Admit goats to reproduction should not be earlier than 1-1,5 years. Goats during the mating behave excitedly and emit an unpleasant smell.

Hence the myths of different peoples, in which the goat is a symbol of impurity, debauchery and, in general, sin. Pregnancy lasts 143-155 days, more often 1-2 goats are born, in exceptional cases 4 and even 6. Goats grow quickly, lactation in goats can last up to 300 days a year.

Depending on the breed and the lactation period, the goat can give from 0.5 to 7 liters of milk per day. Goats are very healthy and rarely get sick. The greatest danger to them is the raw climate and wet pastures, which can lead to pneumonia or poisonous herbs poisoning.
