The Oktoberfest festival is the biggest beer festival in Germany, and not only in Germany, but in all of Europe. Who from fans of this intoxicating drink did not hear about the world famous beer festival called Oktoberfest? There probably will not be. They spend this drunken holiday in Munich, the beginning of the festival falls on October 12 and lasts more than two weeks. “We are crazy for good” – this is the slogan of this event.

Not only Germans are going to Oktoberfest, but also numerous tourists from various countries of the world are in a hurry to try the best German beers. Many journalists call Oktoberfest a true feast of Friendship of Peoples. In these days in Munich, everyone speaks the language of fun. This is truly an international event that every fan of the intoxicant drink strives to visit at least once in their life. The celebration of the beer festival takes place over three weeks. Such a time period gives everyone the opportunity to visit Germany and take part in the celebration.

The beginning of the Oktoberfest was the wedding of Princess Theresa of Saxony and the royal heir to Ludwig the First. It happened just on October 12 in 1810, almost the entire town was invited to the wedding of this noble couple. Residents of Munich gathered on a broad meadow outside the city, now, by the way, this meadow is called Theresa Saxon Meadow or Theresienwiese. Residents of Munich that day were treated to free beer, and looked at the horse racing.

Prince Ludwig loved the holiday so much. That he decided to repeat it the next year. And then the next, and eventually the Oktoberfest began to be celebrated every year. Moreover, in each of the following years the festival is not something that did not fade, but on the contrary came in new traditions and fun entertainment. For example, in more likely in 1811, steel conduct not only horse racing, but also a kind of exhibition at which local farmers showed off their best bulls and horses. And in 1818, swings and merry-go-rounds were mounted especially for the holiday and the residents of Munich. In 1881 they opened a brazier for chickens and began to treat them to the guests of the festival.

Oktoberfest was a very popular festival in Germany and was canceled only during the war. But already in 1950, the festival by order of the mayor of Thomas Wimmer was reopened, and from that time and to our days Oktoberfest takes place every year.

According to the traditions of the festival it opens, the Mayor of Munich uncorking a keg of intoxicating beer at exactly 12 o’clock in the afternoon. This unambiguous gesture of his means that the beer competition has begun. After the discovery of a keg of beer, holiday processions and the Oktoberfest beer festival can be considered open in the central streets of Munich.

During the Oktoberfest festival, 14 tent pavilions are lined up, where you are offered to try a huge number of varieties of very different beers. Here you can eat a German specialty for beer – baked pork leg. In the tents there is a place for dancing. But getting into the tent is not so easy. The number of people inside the pavilions is monitored by the guards, and they do not let through those who no longer fit together, so you need to come in advance.

Pavilions are a real fun center. Upstairs Bavarian flags are developed, everything is decorated with bright colors and bows, and clever waitresses are one of the elements of this fun. Guests are surprised how girls can bring 12 beer mugs at once, because German beer mugs weigh a kilogram.

Oktoberfest is a holiday with German flavor. Here everyone is friendly to each other, they treat themselves to beer, socialize and have fun. Such an atmosphere would envy any large-scale event.

Many travel companies offer specialized tours to Germany during the beer festival, which offer an interesting program, connected, of course, with the history of German beer and the opportunity to taste the best of its varieties.
