Unknown Museum of Suvorov

In Ukraine, in the village of Timanovka, Vinnitsa region, there is a house that once belonged to the famous Russian commander Aleskandr Vasilievich Suvorov. This is not a palace, but an ordinary house in 6 rooms, which were many at the time. Since 1947, the AV Museum is located in this house. Suvorov. Of course, in terms of its size and the number of exhibits, this museum cannot be compared to other famous museums, but its main noteworthy thing is that the Russian generalissimo lived in this house.

Alexander Vasilievich Suvorov is perhaps the most legendary person among a galaxy of famous Russian leaders. And he, by right, erected a memorial museum to the first person in Russia.

The museum was founded in St. Petersburg in 1900 to the centenary of the death of the Russian generalissimo. By the way, Emperor Nicholas II took part in the foundation of this museum. In 1904, the museum was located in a specially built for this building on the corner of Tavricheskaya and Kirochnaya streets, for which the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment allocated part of its parade ground.

Somewhat more modest are the museums of Suvorov in Bakhchisarai, in the Crimea, in Ochakovo and the village of Ust-Labinsk in Kubania, in Izmail. There is a museum-reserve of A. V. Suvorov in the village of Konchanskoe-Suvorovskoe. There is even a museum of Suvorov in Switzerland.

But few people know that in Ukraine in the Vinnitsa region there is a village Timanivka, not far from Tulchin, there is also a network of the Museum of Suvorov. This is not a palace, but a master’s courtyard of only 6 rooms, built in the second half of the 18th century. When it belonged to the famous Field Marshal Alexander Suvorov.

The legendary commander lived here in the years 1796-1797, when he was in disgrace with the Emperor Paul. The victor of Ochakov and Ishmael used this time not for well deserved rest, but for scientific work. In Timanovka and Tulchin, he wrote the reference book of all Russian commanders “The Science of Victory”.

Together with Suvorov, his faithful soldiers lived in the village, “wonder-heroes” who were introduced here to overcome the fortifications – the walls of the training mini-fortress were preserved. Here and now the museum of Suvorov, opened in 1947, operates.
