Architecture of Ukraine
Central Ukraine certainly has more types of palace and park architecture. The richness of styles is due to the fact that by the second half of the 18th century Cherkasy region, Zhytomyr region and Kiev region belonged to the Commonwealth, and Poltava region and Chernihiv region – to the Russian Empire.
If on the Right Bank the owners of the palaces that have survived to this day were the same families as in Podolia or Volyn, then on the lands of the left bank of the Dnieper, the estates that we can inspect today belonged to the Russianized Ukrainian nobility and old Russian genera.
Magnificent lordly manor houses in this part of Ukraine were built for themselves by the Zakrevsky, Skoropadsky, Razumovsky ones – representatives of the ancient Cossack officers, and later noble families known from the XVII-XVIII centuries. They gave Ukraine a number of military and state leaders. In particular, two hetmans come from the Skoropadsky family: Ivan Skoropadsky in the 18th century. And Pavel Skoropadsky in the 20th century .. Count Alexei Razumovsky, the obeger-meister and field marshal-general, was a favorite of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna.
Residences that still cause considerable surprise and admiration, located in the villages Verkhovnya – Zhytomyr region, Trostyanets – Chernihiv region, Korsun-Shevchenkovsky – Cherkasy region, Khomutets – Poltava region. In addition, it is in this region of Ukraine that the largest masterpieces of landscape art of the classicism era in Uman and Belaya Tserkov have been preserved. Some estates are, unfortunately, in desolation, as, for example, Reddish Village in the Kiev region. Others are more fortunate.
